How to Get Started
Your step-by-step guide to TrackLab Engineer — from installation to the checkered flag.
1. Create Your Account
Register at tracklab.gg with your personal details. You'll receive a verification email — click the link to activate your account.
2. Choose Your Plan
Log in to your portal and select a Single subscription plan (1, 6, or 12 months). Complete payment via Stripe.
3. Get Your License Key
After payment, your personal license key appears in your portal. Copy it — you'll need it for the desktop app.
4. Download & Install
Download the TrackLab Engineer installer from your portal. Run it and follow the setup wizard. Your browser may flag the download — click 'Keep' to proceed. Windows Defender SmartScreen may also show a warning — click 'More info' → 'Run anyway'. The installer is safe but not yet code-signed.
5. Activate
Launch TrackLab Engineer. Accept the privacy agreement, then enter your license key. The app validates it and activates your Single Edition.
6. Launch iRacing & Drive
Start iRacing, join a session. TrackLab Engineer automatically detects the session — overlays appear, the voice engineer starts coaching, and the AI begins learning from your driving.
7. Explore the Tabs
Engineer Tab: Real-time analysis, setup recommendations, community benchmarks, driving feedback. Telemetry: Interactive lap trace charts with lap comparison. Team Planner: Endurance stint coordination. Hardware: FFB and pedal settings. Options: Overlays, voice, audio, language. Spotter Mode keeps overlays visible in the pit for spotters. Standings show tire compound, last lap, and best lap. The AI corner coach begins personalized tips from lap 3 with specific braking and turn-in recommendations. Plus: Your personal session dashboard at tracklab.gg/portal/sessions.
Voice AI Setup
Configure the AI Race Engineer voice to get spoken coaching during your session.
The Voice AI uses Windows SAPI5 — no additional software installation is required. It works out of the box on any Windows PC.
The voice language follows your UI language setting. For example, if you set TrackLab to German, a German SAPI5 voice is used. To install additional voices, go to Windows Settings → Time & Language → Speech and add the language you need.
In the Options tab, you can select your preferred audio output device. The dropdown shows all available playback devices on your system — choose headphones, speakers, or any USB audio device.
Voice output is automatic: once enabled in Options and connected to an iRacing session, the engineer calls out lap times, position changes, fuel warnings, pit strategy, corner coaching, and more. Adjust the volume slider in Options to your preference.
Hardware Optimization
Get personalized force feedback, pedal, and wheel settings — a feature no other sim racing tool offers.
Open the Hardware Optimization tab in TrackLab Engineer. Select your wheelbase brand and model, wheel, and pedals from the dropdowns. Your selections are saved automatically — you only need to set them up once.
Select the car class and specific car you want to drive. The system has optimized settings for every iRacing vehicle.
Click 'Get Recommendations' to receive tailored FFB, pedal curve, and driver settings for your exact hardware and car combination. After driving a few sessions, the AI incorporates your driving analysis data to refine the recommendations further.
The recommended settings include driver software configuration (e.g., Fanatec Control Panel, Simucube TrueDrive), iRacing in-game FFB settings, and pedal calibration curves — all in one place.
Pro Tips
The AI learns from every lap — the more you drive, the better the recommendations get.
Use the Session Debrief after each race to identify your weakest corners and track improvements.
The Voice Engineer can be configured in Options: adjust volume, select audio output device, and toggle on/off.
All overlays can be repositioned by pressing F6 to activate move mode, then pressing F6 again to lock them. Opacity is adjustable in Options.
The Pit Strategy Engineer works best in races longer than 20 minutes where pit stops are required.
Hardware Optimization recommendations adapt based on your driving analysis — check back after a few sessions.
